IMAS peeps Justine Barrett and Karen Alexander have been selected to take part in the prestigious Homeward Bound programme (https://homewardboundprojects.com.au/ ) this year! For those of you who haven’t heard all about it (where have you been?!), Homeward Bound aims to heighten the influence and impact of women in STEM to influence the policy and decision-making that shapes our planet. This year, 70 women (including Justine and Karen) are participating in the yearlong leadership program that culminates in a three-week intensive training expedition to Antarctica.
The programme costs each participant US$40,000, a significant proportion of which is covered by very kind sponsors and donors. However, Justine and Karen must raise US$16,000 each (approx. AU$21,000) plus the costs of their flights, accommodation, visas etc. They need sponsorship from people who are willing to support the fight for equity and the fight for our planet, and they have some great perks for those who help to raise the funds! If YOU want to help – why not check out their crowdfunding page https://www.gofundme.com/team-tassie-homeward-bound !
