Alyssa Marshell is a Fisheries Scientist at the Institute for Marine and Antarctic Studies. She leads the scalefish and cephalopod team who collect biological and ecological data for Tasmania’s annual state-assessed fisheries stock assessments.
Before joining UTAS in 2022, Alyssa was an Assistant Professor in the Department of Marine Science and Fisheries at Sultan Qaboos University in Muscat, Oman, where she taught undergraduate students and led applied fisheries science research projects investigating artisanal fisheries, artificial reefs, and fish population dynamics and stock assessments.
She has diverse experience in fish biology/ecology, fisheries, and marine coastal ecosystems science, and conducts applied, interdisciplinary research projects to address effective and sustainable fisheries management.
