Helena has a background in marine ecology and has held a variety of roles across the interface of academic research, science communication and stakeholder engagement. This includes participating in large interdisciplinary projects to document Antarctic biodiversity and track invasive species, unravel evolutionary histories, monitor environmental contamination, and educate the public about marine conservation – both in Australia and Indonesia. Her current role sees her developing collaborative ocean literacy content for Tasmania’s Marine Atlas, to engage community in marine socio-ecological issues. She is passionate about improving science accessibility for the public, particularly pertaining to environmental sustainability.
