I hold a graduate degree in Future Planet Studies at the Interdisciplinary Institute of Science of the University of Amsterdam and a postgraduate degree in Marine Resource Management at Wageningen University and Research. After my studies I worked in several teams at the Maritime Policy and Fisheries Department of the European Commission, and collaborated as a junior researcher in EU funded projects focusing on Marine Protected Areas in the European seas.
Having tasted the working atmosphere of marine policy, and experiencing the political character of scientific knowledge in marine management, I decided to explore how quantitative ocean models can be combined with political ecology. When I’m not diving into critical literature to reflect and expand my thinking, you can find me photographing underwater life or guiding groups of students in the ocean with smiling eyes.
