Anne has a Masters in Protected Area Governance and Management and her current PhD research focuses on marine protected area (MPA) planning in the Southern Ocean. Anne’s research will apply a Systematic Conservation Planning (SCP) approach to assess the ecological representativeness of the progress toward a Network of Southern Ocean MPAs, test the effectiveness of various approaches to incorporate socio-economic objectives into SCP to minimise conflicts with marine resource users, and consider the role of planning and governance frameworks within the geopolitical context of MPA decision-making with the aim to support the continued development of a representative network of MPAs for the Southern Ocean.
