Ian works as a fisheries scientist in the Australian Bureau of Agricultural and Resource Economics and Sciences (ABARES) within the Department of Agriculture, Water and the Environment. He has a particular interest in the translation of science into policy and legislation, with a particular focus on marine ecology, fisheries and climate change. Ian draws diverse scientific and policy experience through academia/research in coral reef ecology, fisheries and palaeoecology and through government work in the United States, Cambodia and Papua New Guinea. He has managed some of Australia’s northern fisheries and led cutting edge projects in fisheries climate change adaptation.
