Bio

Kathryn is a PhD researcher in ocean governance at the University of Tasmania. Her research interests include ocean agenda setting and the role of political actors in negotiating and formulating ocean policy. Among her many adventures, Kathryn has been a diplomat, policy analyst, strategist, negotiator, message crafter, narrative shaper, content curator and creative producer. She has worked in senior policy roles in federal and state governments, including at the Department of Foreign Affairs and Trade where she was posted to New Delhi and New York. Kathryn is a co-founder of Hello Atoll, a creative research studio that investigates the experience of offshore sensory environments and their effects on listening, creativity, and imagination.
