Living up to her bird name, Olly Dove is a marine ecology PhD candidate researching the foraging behaviour of little penguins and short-tailed shearwaters in Tasmania. Originally from the UK, Olly studied Zoology for her undergraduate degree before moving on to Taxonomy and Biodiversity for her Master’s. For the latter, Olly travelled to Madagascar to study the behaviour of plovers, which is where her love of fieldwork and studying animal behaviour solidified.
Alongside her PhD, Olly has been involved in That’s What I Call Science, the Hobart-based radio and podcast show that aims at spreading the STEMM work accomplished in Tasmania to the rest of Australia and beyond. Now in her fourth year on the team, Olly is the show’s main host and content manager, and is increasingly passionate about the value of science communication.
