Bio

Brigette is a marine scientist with a special interest in climate change ecology. Having previously completed a Master of Marine and Antarctic Science, she is now undertaking a PhD project examining tipping points in marine socioecological systems. Using inter- and transdisciplinary approaches, the project aims to develop a general framework to characterise the nature of socioecological tipping points in marine systems, as well as to assess the drivers of and vulnerabilities to tipping points in three case studies: the Southern Ocean, South-East Australian kelp forests and Indo-Pacific coral reefs. Prior to this, Brigette worked as a Research Assistant at UTAS, contributing to projects investigating microplastic pollution from ports and shipping activities, and identifying the potential for floating artificial reefs to support offshore development.
