David works in recreational fishing community engagement with the Department of Natural Resources and Environment Tasmania (NRE Tas). Dave is passionate about engaging recreational fishers in the science behind fishing, through innovative science communication, running hands-on citizen science opportunities, and creating opportunities to participate in fisheries management processes. Dave also previously worked at the Institute for Marine and Antarctic Studies (IMAS) and Redmap Australia investigating range extending fish species affected by climate change in Tasmanian waters.
